Check-out, check-in and the mobile app

Know who has every unit and when it's due back. Check equipment out and in from the unit's card on the web, or scan it in the field with the missionX mobile app.

Heads up: Check-out and check-in need the Core or Scale plan. On the Free plan you can keep the checkout log on each unit's card by hand.

From the web

ActionWhereDescription
Check outEquipment card → Check outChoose Who takes it and when it's Expected back, and add any notes.
Check inEquipment card → Check inRecord the Condition on return, add notes and up to 10 photos. Units returned in Poor condition move to Under Maintenance.
Report an issueEquipment card → Report issueDescribe the problem and its severity. A maintenance request is created for the unit's custodian.

Scanning with the mobile app

In the missionX mobile app, tap Equipment on the home screen, then tap Scan equipment code and point your camera at the unit's label. You can also type the asset ID, for example EQ-00012.

The app reads QR codes and common barcodes. Under With you you can see all the equipment you're currently holding.

Bright idea: Label your equipment with its asset ID as a QR code or barcode so anyone can scan it straight to the right unit.

On the unit screen

After a scan, the app shows whether the unit is checked out, when it's due back and whether it can be booked, with the actions available to you:

ActionDescription
Check out to meChoose when you'll Bring it back by (a week by default), add notes and tap Check out.
Check inRecord the condition, add notes and up to 5 photos. If the unit is in poor condition it's flagged for maintenance.
Report an issueDescribe what's wrong, choose a severity and add photos.
Request accessFor restricted units, explain why you need it and send the request to the compliance approvers.

Equipment notifications, such as items due back, open straight to the unit in the app. You can mute the ones you don't need under Equipment notifications.

Next steps

Keep units safe and ready with maintenance and compliance.
